SILVER RIVER KNAP-IN: STONE TOOL MAKING & PREHISTORIC ARTS FESTIVAL

SILVER SPRINGS STATE PARK, OCALA, FLORIDA
Don’t miss the ninth annual Silver River Knap-In at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park. Expert flint knappers (people who make stone tools such as spear points and knives), archaeologists, potters, hide tanners, bow makers, dugout canoe carvers and other specialists in prehistoric skills will gather from across the U.S. to demonstrate their crafts.
This unique event includes displays of ancient Native American artifacts from Florida as well as archery, tomahawk and atlatl spear throwing activities each day. Presentations by archaeologists exploring the Pre-history of Florida will take place on both Saturday and Sunday. Vendors also offer unique crafts, reproduction stone tools, raw stone, knapping tools and food for sale.
Visitors can also visit the Silver River Museum, hike or bike the trails of the state park, or canoe and kayak on the pristine Silver River. $5.00 Event admission per person (kids five and under admitted free). Free state park entry and parking.
All proceeds help support educational programs at the Silver River Museum.
